For Fidel I was in charge of designing their Use cases for their website.

This meant that I:

-Designed the main product illustrations for the Use cases

-Designed the workflow images that demonstrates what you can build with Fidel's API platform

-Designed the overall UI and UX for the Use cases

-Made test prototypes

Fidel API is a Fintech company that provides a financial API platform for developers.

Fidel was often given the feedback from their users that it was unclear what their platform could offer to them in terms of value. As such Fidel wanted to properly inform their users while also convincing them at the same time to convert and sign up to their product.

To do this they wanted visually informative Use Cases that gave the user a precise idea about how the users should be able to make use of Fidel's product while also having a clearer understanding of all the solutions/options that Fidel also offered.

I then sketched how the copy would be structured in terms of layout.

First the team wrote down a rough set up of the copy.

Afterwards I set up a rough moodboard of images to get a rough feel of the look before I started illustrating the final assets.

The main challenges with designing the use cases

The main challenge was simplifying Fidel's intricate product for quick user comprehension and motivation to join the platform. Fidel's main audience includes developers, CEOs, and founders who prefer concise, technical content over marketing fluff. Research shows they value brief tutorials and demos, favoring those under 5 minutes with visual aids. Engaging these busy individuals is tough.

To cater to them, we opted for minimal copy, ensuring it could be read in 5 minutes or less. We kept webpages short, eliminating the need for scrolling and reducing drop-off rates. Step-by-step workflow images were used to illustrate complex actions, making them easy to understand. Abstract copy was accompanied by product illustrations, making the information more tangible and eye-catching. These illustrations also served as navigation aids, helping users locate their specific use case on the website. This approach streamlined comprehension and highlighted the product's value to the user.

Product Illustrations

The concepts that I illustrated in order are: Attributions and insights, Expense & Management, Rewards, Digital receipts.

Illustrations are an excellent tool for translating abstract concepts because they help make complex information more tangible and accessible. By visualizing abstract ideas, illustrations allow people to better understand and relate to the concepts being communicated.

In my work-process I created rough pencil sketches before moving onto digital software as this allows me for a more fluid and efficient creative process, enabling me to better experiment with different ideas and compositions.

Workflow images

For extra help to the user I also visualised the most challenging product actions through step-by-step workflow images. This way the user could more quickly understand how The API could be implemented into the customer's product. This approach made it easier to follow and learn more about the product and the value it provides for the user.
